After living in the real-world for most of my childhood, I thought it would be a good idea in my adulthood to retreat to a fairytale world where I could poke the real world with a stick. And I’ve been there ever since.

My love for the structure and vast world of fairytales was always there, I just didn’t realize it until I was older. I found myself collecting old editions of fairytale collections from around the world and becoming fully engrossed in them. I bring that love into all of my works, whether it being a flat-out fairytale conjured out of my own silly brain, or having essence of fairytale devices just barely kissing a story, it’s always there.

Perhaps it is that love of things surreal, that creates an airy effect in all of my work. I try not to make anything too harsh, too rough. Even death scenes are handled with grace and beauty. Because of this, I work a lot with watercolors and markers, but do dabble in digital painting, where I bring my painting skills from the paper to the tablet.

In the end, everyone’s life really is their own fairystory, or at least it can be if they try. Making yourself happy, that’s the fairytale ending. And that’s exactly my goal in my work.
