SUGAR NINJAS VOL. 4 IS A GO!

It’s been half a year since our last Sugar Ninjas update about the release of volume three. Why the long delay, and whatever happened to the interviews with Sugar Ninjas creators that were supposed to be posted many, many moons ago. The truth is that I was simply exhausted from three straight years of working on Sugar Ninjas, writing and illustrating my soon-to-be-completed graphic novel (ANA TEACHES KITTENS DRAWING AND DESIGN), and searching for another school interested in starting up a comics-based Sequential Art program. Despite being unemployed for the past three years, I still managed to fall victim to overwork and the dreaded “s” word: stress. Coupled with the relatively poor printing quality of far too many copies of volume three, I found that all I could do was temporarily shutdown and hope my batteries would recharge with time…and so they have!

My trusty assistant editor, Gally Articola, has been working with me to produce another version of Sugar Ninjas volume three, which will soon be made available at Amazon.com. Did you get an ugly book?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Did you receive a book with sub-par print quality? Do the blacks not look solid, but like they were rubbed off? Unfortunately, we’ve run into this problem ourselves, and we’re very upset about it.The ninjas do their best to make these books look awesome, but we cannot control what goes on when Lulu sends your order to print. If you got a bad book, don’t settle! Complain to Lulu directly by going here to Lulu Customer Support.

Navigate to “Email” (right below Customer Support). You will need to sign in. Then choose “Help with my Order” and be sure to select “Item has a print defect” next to “What’s the problem?” Mention the bad print quality, nobody should have to stand for ugly books.

Needless to say, we’re very unhappy about this and apologise profusely, even if Lulu should really apologise to you. We’re working on making the books easier to buy (no more Lulu) with better quality for the same low price we promise (bottom line cost-to-print), but in the meantime, we’ll have to continue to use Lulu.

VOLUME THREE: AVAILABLE AT LAST!

It took us much longer than we’d originally hoped, but Gally and I have finally finished uploading the files for the third volume of SUGAR NINJAS, including both the SWEET and SPICY books. This volume features art and stories by many returning ninjas, as well as a large number of brand new ones. Each book can be ordered for less than ten dollars and they would make great Christmas presents for some lucky girls, especially young girls interested in becoming artists themselves.

The deadline has been reached!

Well, it’s the 23rd. Ladies, if you haven’t already submitted your work, you’re just going to have to wait another year.

We had an amazing number of submissions and we’re STILL going through all of them! You girls are amazing, and thank you for all of your equally amazing artwork!

Now we’ve got the daunting task of actually putting this book together and making it available for purchase (at the cheapest possible cost to you) ASAP! Keep an eye on the website and the Facebook page, because we’ll be announcing the release date of Volume 3 there!

Time is running out

Well, only a few more hours left until the submission deadline for Volume 3!

Ana and I are really happy with everyone’s work. The Sugar Ninja inbox is overflowing with amazing art. It’s awesome to see some new faces (and some lovely ladies from Vol. 1 and 2, of course) and brand new illustrations, comics, and stories. I don’t think it’s far-fetched to say that Volume 3 is going to be the best Sugar Ninjas volume yet!

Oh, and for those girls who were Sugar Ninjas from the start (good old Volume 1), and wondering when you’ll be able to get it again, fear not. Ana wants to go back and re-edit it so your art can look as good as ever! Stay tuned for more info on that, but Volume 1 will definitely be available to purchase again.

So, what do we have left?  About 2 hours before midnight here? Well then, I’d better get back to cataloguing all these submissions and if you haven’t done so yet, you better send something in! It’ll be another year before we open submissions back up, you don’t want to spend all that time looking at these cool books and wishing you were in them.

Submissions Form!

Another new addition to our submissions process is the Submissions Form we are now requesting you fill out when you submit your work. You can grab the form here, or find it on our Submissions and Page Template sections of the site. The form has all the information we need from you, so be sure to fill it out completely!

We will not accept submissions this year without the form, but if you have already emailed us your work, we will get in contact with you. Just fill it out (you can even type right onto the form!) and send it, your pieces, and a photo/self-portrait to us!
